Welcome
Second life could be a good educational experience for older students. I believe the students in our program are not ready for second life. Even though it can teach students the difference between fantasy and reality we have to be careful of students who have not mastered the skills of reality vs. fantasy. To me second life provides student a way to escape to a world of unknowns and maybe unsafely. It can enhance learning of students who knows the difference between fantasy and reality and provide them an opportunity to expand their learning. As I continued to watch the different videos on second life it provided me with some ideas for teachers using second life in professional development training.

K-12 Online Conference
Welcome
The online conference I chose was Little Kids, Big Possibilities. This presentation is about how you can use 2.0 and social networking with younger students. This online conference provided me with some sites that will help enhance student’s learning and engagement in classroom assignments. The first site she talked about was Wallwisher.com. It provides students a way to become activity involved with their daily assignments. The second site she discusses was Wordle.net. This site’s aim is to help students with comparison and contrast, prediction, inference, main ideas and generalizations. Wordle can help students generate rich discussions with other students. The final site was Edmodo.com. It is a social networking site that can be used at home or school providing ways for students and teachers to communicate. Edmodo will allow you to share ideas, turn in assignments, reflections and share file. Edmodo provides students a great way to learn online and collaborate with others. These sites she talked about in her online conference could be used in our classrooms providing teachers a way to engage students in their own everyday learning. They also provide teachers a way to expand their lesson and develop a richer environment.

Tappedin
Welcome
I signed up for Tappedin. I entered into a room called reception and created an office, visited TI and read information about assessment. Tappedin appears to be a very interesting site. It has lots of good information for educator. Tappenin offers help as you tour the site. Doing my tour I was able to chat with a person name Jeff C. He asked me what my purpose for using Tappenin was. He provided some information on how I could use Tappenin and benefit from the site. He even stated, “One of my classmates was on Tappenin yesterday”.

Welcome
First I would like to say that Twitter is not for everyone. After signing up for twitter I was lost. It took me about two hours to find out how to participate in twitter and I am still not sure. I when to the Fontbonne faculty blog, I click on computer education, an article about Web 2.0 and Cloud Computing by Joann Mattson came up. The posting gave some good information about 2.0 and cloud computing. I can share this information with staff. She also provided some links to some sites to try. I am still not sure if I would use twitter in our program. I have not seen the benefit of this site yet. I will continue to work out my bugs with the site.

Children
Welcome
The slideshow I chose is a collection of children and families as we see them in their native state. These photos remind me of the different diversity cultures of the children and families we serve every day. I would use this as an introduction to new and old staff when they return for the new school year. I would use this as a discussion piece of how our children are different and how we should be mindful of their cultures when entering our center.

Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse
The voice thread that I chose is the one where a child is reading a story about a purple plastic purse. This is a great way for children to build their reading skills. It allows them to record as they read a story and be able to play it back to hear them selves read. Teachers can also use it as a way to evaluate a student’s level of reading.
The benefits of early childhood intervention
Welcome
This video is about the importance of early childhood learning development. It provides tips on what to look for when working with children in their early education. It also talks about how the child would benefit if the learning development problem is detected early. I would use this video as a development training tool for my staff. It will show how important it is for teachers to refer children early even if they are not sure there is a problem. It is always better to be safe then sorry when it comes to children and their learning development.

4teachers
The website 4teachers is an easy way to integrate technology into your classroom and serves as an excellent tool for teachers and students. The site allows teachers to create ready-to-use Web lessons, quizzes, rubrics and classroom calendars. This feature is great for students to collect, organize their notes and prepare their bibliography page. These features can help get unorganized students organized for class. Teachers can create, assign, and manage projects for all of their classes. Teachers can send messages to students and students can respond and also send messages to their teachers. Teachers can track student’s progress and provide helpful tips. I used this site as a citing source for my class papers. It kept me organized and on top of things. Take some time and view this site it is worth the time.
Classmaker
Class maker is great site for teachers. It allows teachers to create quizzes that cater to their needs online. This site is free if you are using the standard version, but if you use the extended version there is a small fee. I used Class maker to create an online quiz for one of my Master classes. It is very user friendly and has lots of great features. It saves you time because it grades the quiz for you and unlike paper quizzes you have to grade by hand. Class maker is not only for educational use it can be used for business also. I recommend you check this site out. It could save you time in the long run.

Reflection on Technology in education
As a teacher I believe it’s our duty to provide students with a rich and safe environment. This may allow students to explore their inner self and build their self-esteem. I believe you should look at the whole child in order to provide them with a healthy learning environment. Children should be able to use their prior knowledge to gain access to a new skill. Teachers should always ask open –ended questions so students can build on their problem- solving skills when dealing with every day life. It is up to teachers to help students to become engaged in their own learning and take control. Provide students an opportunity to master skills at their own pace. Students are like pilots on their first solo flight. Students are equipped with the knowledge but it up to them to take off and use this knowledge to explore the world. Teachers should instill in students that a negative surround should not determine their destiny but guide them into a positive outcome. As the educational world continues to change we have to change with it. As teachers we need to be able to provide students with up to date knowledge in order for them to compete with others in society. If we want our children to be successful learner in the future we must teach them to think from themselves, solve problems and get along with others. As a teacher we are making a choice to make a difference in children life that will affect them in their adult life as well. I want to help children develop a love of learning, discovering, and giving them the tools they can use throughout their lives to make new discoveries. I believe it is crucial for teachers to cultivate learning partnerships with students. I think teaching is not all about instructing or imparting information to students as if their minds were waiting to be filled with my knowledge. Rather, teaching is igniting transformative learning; empowering students to take responsibility for their learning. I believe teaching must be multifaceted to allow students to express preferences. A good education is one that emphasizes individuality. The first step in any educational process is to understand ourselves. The classroom climate should be challenging but not threatening to students. Success in school is highly important. We need to clarity what educational approach we want for our children. If we want our children to be successful learner in the future we must teach them to think for themselves, solve problems and get along with others. This will help our children become competent adults who relate well with others and contribute to their family and society. In order to provide students with up-to-date technology we as teachers need to constantly stay abreast of what is new in technology. When we do this we can enhance our students learning by enabling them to communicate with other students outside of their classrooms. Our goal is to have all students’ technology ready for real life experiences. As teachers we have to integrate technology in our lessons and have students assess their own learning. By providing students with information on how they should conduct themselves when using technology. Provide students with the legal and ethical ways to use technology in their every day life. I have decided to take part in educating our students by educating myself. I am enrolled in a Masters program for technology. This has provided me with information that will improve the staff’s knowledge of technology and enhance students learning with technology. As I continue to improve myself with technology information I will be a model for our program. We can move our students into the 21th
